SmartCampus Exam — Effective July 29, 2026
SmartCampus Exam (“the app”) is an exam-taking application used by students at participating schools. It is provided by Analytica PH to each school (“your school”) that licenses it, and connects to your school’s own learning management system (LMS) to deliver exams and submit your answers. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and how it is handled.
Each school using SmartCampus Exam operates its own LMS and manages its own students’ accounts and records. Your school is responsible for your account and for decisions about how long your exam records are kept. This policy describes what the app itself collects and sends to your school’s systems — it does not collect data on behalf of any organization other than the school you log in to.
Information we collect
Account information
When you log in, the app receives your name, email address, and role (e.g. student) from your school’s LMS, along with an authentication session so you stay signed in. This is required to use the app — there is no way to take an exam without logging in.
Exam answers
Your answers, including any rich-text or essay responses, are sent to your school’s LMS as you complete an exam. This is the core function of the app.
Answer photos (optional)
For essay or identification questions, you may choose to attach a photo (for example, of handwritten work) to your answer. If you do, the photo is compressed on your device and uploaded to your school’s LMS as part of your answer. This only happens if you choose to attach a photo — the app does not otherwise access your camera or photo library.
Exam activity and academic-integrity monitoring
While you are taking a proctored exam, the app monitors and logs activity relevant to academic integrity, such as:
- Switching away from the exam tab or app, or losing/regaining focus
- Exiting full-screen mode, resizing or rotating the window
- Attempted copy, cut, paste, right-click, text selection, drag-and-drop, or printing
- Network disconnects and reconnects during the exam
- On the Android app only: another app drawing content on top of the exam screen (see “Accessibility Service” below)
This monitoring is a required part of taking a proctored exam and cannot be turned off during an attempt. It is used only to help your school assess the integrity of an exam attempt — it is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the exam.
School identification (Android app)
When you install the Android app from Google Play, it may read the Play Store’s install-referrer information to automatically determine which school’s exam environment to connect you to, instead of asking you to type a school code by hand. If this information isn’t available (for example, if you installed the app a different way), you can enter your school’s code yourself. This is only used to route you to the correct school and is not used to identify or track your device otherwise.
Accessibility Service (Android app only)
The Android app uses Android’s Accessibility Service API to detect when another app draws an overlay (“chat head” style window) on top of the exam screen — something a web browser cannot otherwise detect, and a common way students might try to view outside help during a proctored exam.
This service only detects that an overlay is being drawn and which app’s package is doing it — it never reads, records, or has access to what that other app displays, and it cannot see or record anything you type or view in any other app. It is active only while an exam is in progress and is required to take a proctored exam on the Android app. Before this permission is requested, the app shows an in-app screen explaining this exact use and requires you to explicitly agree before continuing to Android’s settings.
What we don’t do
- We don’t use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs in the app.
- We don’t show ads or sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don’t share your information with any third party outside your school’s own systems, except where a platform-level service is technically necessary to operate the app — for example, the Google Play Install Referrer API described above, which is provided by Google as part of the Android platform itself.
How information is used
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Account information | Sign you in and identify your submissions to your school |
| Exam answers & photos | Deliver and grade your exam |
| Exam activity monitoring | Academic-integrity review of the exam attempt |
| Install referrer / school code | Connect the app to the correct school |
Children’s privacy
SmartCampus Exam is used by students of all ages, including students under 13, as provided by their school for educational purposes. We collect only the information described in this policy, which is limited to what’s needed to deliver and monitor an exam — we do not use it for advertising, do not build advertising profiles, and do not knowingly allow any third party to collect personal information from the app for their own purposes. Schools are responsible for obtaining any consent required under applicable law (such as from a parent or guardian) before providing student accounts for use with the app.
Data retention and deletion
Exam answers, photos, and activity logs are stored on your school’s own LMS and retained according to your school’s academic record-keeping policy, since each school is responsible for its own students’ records. If you’d like to request access to or deletion of your data, please contact your school directly, or reach out to us at the address below and we will help route your request to the right school.
Data security
Data sent between the app and your school’s servers is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Authentication is handled using OAuth, and access tokens are stored only on your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
